Thee Benefits of a Volunteer Coordinator + How You Know
The benefits of having or hiring (yes hire) a volunteer coordinator aside from someone that maybe a volunteer is their experience, knowledge, credentials, & research background one may possess. This individual specifically deals with volunteers within the organization or ones you want to bring into your organization.
I received a comment on my Instagram regarding a CEO not knowing if they needed one or not. So I want to share if you follow under the following categories, then you should consider hiring or placing a experienced Volunteer Coordinator over your volunteers.
If you have the following:
- Conferences or events
- Offer programs and services
- Need mentors
- Send out care packages
What a Volunteer Coordinator does:
- Recruit
- Train
- Schedule
- Show appreciation
How to know you need on:
- If you know for a fact you need extra hands
- You're managing the volunteers
- You're looking for volunteers for your organizations needs
- 9/10 you need a VC but if you're in the beginning stages of starting your organization, you do not need a VC at this moment. Plan out your mission, goals, events, budget etc.
Do not hire or look for someone to volunteer their time as a Volunteer Coordinator if you do not have volunteers to manage. Your VC is the one who oversees your volunteers not you. I hope this helps your organization to decipher if this something you should carry out and if so when.
